Dr. Murphy was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he completed his medical training and General Surgery residency at Dalhousie University. He did his Plastic Surgery residency in Boston at the Lahey Clinic a multi-specialty surgical clinic affiliated with Harvard University. Dr. Murphy completed his training under the tutelage of Dr. Brooke Seckel, a world renowned lecturer and author in aesthetic surgery and, in particular, breast and facial aesthetic surgery.

After his plastic surgery residency, Dr. Murphy returned to Canada, where he completed two years in private practice before moving to Denver in Oct. 1994. He relocated his practice to Swedish Medical Center in October 1996. In late 2001, he completed an extensive office remodeling and expansion to better serve his patients, and to offer them the state of the art in aesthetic surgical care.
The focus of Dr. Murphy's practice is aesthetic surgery, specializing in surgery of the face and breasts, and with a large experience in body contouring and liposuction. Dr Murphy also pursues reconstructive procedures with a particular interest in facial and breast reconstruction after cancer procedures, and reconstruction in pediatric patients for congenital deformities. He is involved in the skin clinic at Craig Rehab Hospital.
Dr. Murphy has been featured in The Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Business Journal, and his colleagues voted him as a Denver Top Doctor for Cosmetic Surgery in 5280 magazine.
Dr. Murphy is married with four children and lives in Jefferson County in Denver, Colorado.
